General and Professional Minimum Wage in Mexico approved for 2022

The National Commission of Minimum Wages (CONASAMI), and the Secretary of Labor have officially announced the approval of an increase to the minimum wage in Mexico of 22% effective on January 1, 2022.

 

Last Wednesday, December 1st, the federal government, representatives of the labor sector, and employers organizations announced a 22% increase to the minimum wage in Mexico.

Main considerations:

  • The minimum wage applicable to the Northern Border Free Zone of $213.39 increases to $260.34.
  • The rest of the country’s current minimum salary of $141.70 will increase to $172.87.
  • Both salary increases include a tripartite agreement of a 9% increase plus an Independent Recovery Amount (MIR) in both zones.
  • The general percentage increase for both General and Professional Minimum Wages is 22%.
  • Salary increase on minimum wages are effective on January 1, 2022.
